Lighthouse on rock in the sea in Belfas, Ireland, UK, Europe

Upon starting the business, way back in 2014, Futrli was two people strong, working out of my spare room. Fast forward to January 2018 and we were 41 people strong in three locations across the globe: Brighton, Melbourne and Sydney. By the end of 2018, we’d secured £4million in Series A VC funding, opened our fourth office location (Auckland, New Zealand) and upgraded each of our existing teams to bigger and better office spaces.

At the beginning of 2019, our team celebrated passing the 100 employee mark and I’m here today announcing our newest office opening in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Futrli was born from a desire to help small businesses truly succeed. But this is no mean feat. It’ll require a strong team spanning the globe, all bringing new perspectives and skill sets to the table. We’ll be investing £5.5million in a new delivery centre in Belfast to continue the development of our newest product portfolio, Futrli Platform, which is currently under preview release.

The new location will allow us to take on 80 new crew members, who we’ll be hunting out the best talent Northern Ireland has to offer. It was the wealth of local expertise as well as proximity to great universities that drew us to Northern Ireland.

Steve Harper, Executive Director of International Business at Invest NI says

“This investment, Futrli’s first in Northern Ireland, is a further endorsement of the strength of the Financial Services Technology sector here. The creation of 80 high-quality jobs, with the average salary above £30,000, offers a range of attractive opportunities for graduates and experienced professionals.

Encouraged by increased demand within the flourishing cloud accounting software sector, Futrli is implementing ambitious growth plans in new and existing markets. It is great news that this project will be delivered by a team based here in Northern Ireland.”

Once in place, the new jobs will generate almost £2.5 million in additional annual salaries for the local economy. Invest Northern Ireland has offered £440,000 towards the creation of the jobs. Our Belfast roles will predominantly be operations and software engineering roles, a key component to the build of our new products.

We’re a loud bunch and we’re hoping that the hustle and bustle of Belfast will suit our work-hard-play-hard characters. Invest NI’s support has helped us to accelerate recruitment for this project and we’re really to expanding our team there. We hope you’re ready, Belfast.
