We’re all in this together. Whether you’re drawing a blank and needing the will to get through today or enjoying the buzz of success, it always helps to seek inspiration from the world around you. We want to celebrate the highs and lows of people trying to make the world a better place. This feature gives you a window into the lives of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs from varied industries. In this blog, we chat with Sydney-based Sabrina Jacquier Parr, Founder of the dental beauty brand, Keeko, who isn’t shy of starting up businesses (yes, plural!).

If you’re reading Vogue, Grazia or subscribed to ‘Yogi Approved‘ you might have already heard of ‘Oil Pulling’. It’s an ancient practice originating from Indian Ayurvedic medicine, used to detoxify the mouth and body, that’s been given a modern twist thanks to Sabrina, Founder of Keeko. This is her 3rd business venture and she, and her remote global team, are working furiously to make sure “Oil Pulling” becomes commonplace and part of your everyday routine…

1/ My alarm goes off…

I usually get up around 7am, the beauty of being your own boss is that you can set your day as you please! I like to start the day with a glass of warm water, honey, apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper to get the metabolism firing. Works better for me than coffee!

2/ I’m responsible for…

Every facet of my business! As the owner of a small but growing business, I need to be across everything from financials to social media and fulfilment.

3/ My typical day…

I always start my work day with going through my to-do list from the previous day and creating the new actions list for the day. Once I have completed this I am ready to tackle my emails. I always try and set specific amounts of times for tasks, so emails I generally allocate 2 hours.

Once my emails have been completed I check in with the various members of my team who are all freelancers and located across the globe. At the moment I am working on getting to market an exciting new product for the Keeko range which will launch end of July. I have a call with my lawyers in Europe and the US to see if there are any further changes or information they need for EU Cosmetic and FDA approvals. Around mid morning I check in with my graphic design team to see the progress on the final artwork and make any remaining adjustments. Lastly, I Skype with my packaging production coordinator in China to continue the negotiations on the packaging costs.

At lunch time I like to try and take a walk or go to yoga class or gym session. This really helps to reset my brain for the afternoon tasks. I’ll generally have a quick salad or sushi on the run as I head back to the office.

After lunch, I touch base with my marketing coordinator to review ROI on past marketing initiatives and review the proposed influencer gifting schedule and influencer negotiations which are a huge part of the Keeko Marketing Model. Finally, at the end of the afternoon, I review logistics to make sure all B2B and B2C orders have gone out, as well as reviewing the company financials to see how sales are tracking to budget, follow up any outstanding invoices and pay all bills due that day.Sabrina Jacques Parr enjoying a drink

4/ My most memorable work moment…

Seeing my product on the shelf of Urban Outfitters.

5/ The worst part of my job…

Never really switching off…

6/ The best part of my job…

The freedom to set my days and work from anywhere in the world.

7/ After work…

I like to enjoy a glass of wine and a tv show that lets me totally shut off my brain. My favourite is the Big Bang Theory.

8/ Top tip for entrepreneurs…

Have a really clear picture of the type of business you want to create before you start. For me, it was less about becoming wildly rich and more about the freedom of lifestyle choices.
