Key performance indicators, commonly known as KPIs, are metrics within your firm and your clients’ businesses that you need to measure. They’re one of many tools in the advisory space that are key to the success of a company, so measuring them correctly is crucial. To ensure you keep a handle on your KPIs, here are a few of the leading software platforms you can use.

Every one of our advisory community preaches the importance of Key Performance Indicators. When we spoke to The Peloton, a trailblazing firm from Cornwall UK, they told us their mantra is “what’s measured is managed”, and they’re spot on. Speaking to marketing manager Anna Carthew (read the full case study here), she told us their approach is to make KPI measurement unique to each business owner. She told us:

“We make the targets personal so the clients really get what they want to get out of it, so we might measure things like how much time they’re saving this week to spend with their kids.”

It should be at the top of your priority list to accommodate your clients professionally and personally. Their business is likely to be their way of maintaining their lifestyles, to provide for their children and to be able to live comfortably. Remember this while you’re selecting the right software for your firm to stay ahead of your competitors.

While you’re here, don’t forget to browse our KPI Library, open all hours. If you’re new to metric measurement, have a look through our industry-specific KPI lists and refer to them whenever you need to.

Here are our top 5 tools to help you measure your way to success…

A screeshot of the Hubspot marketing website

This is one smart tool that integrates CRM and COS for all of your sales and marketing needs. Check in at any time you fancy to see how staff are interacting with customers, and if your customers are visiting your website and reading your blog. Integrated with a myriad of other helpful platforms, including Zendesk, Zapier and Survey Monkey, you can rest assured your marketing efforts won’t go to waste. When your audience has become jaded by repetitive email marketing efforts, remember the Hubspot motto: “People don’t want to be interrupted by marketers or harassed by salespeople. They want to be helped.”

So as for your KPIs, your key inbound marketing metrics that you’re used to measuring are laid out in a clear interface. You can customise your modules, meaning you can prioritise the metrics that are most essential to your business. You’re able to share your dashboard with your team so you’ll know you’re all working toward the same end goals, which will create unity and a sense of community within the team. Check out their blog for some inspired marketing content too.

Asana is a great tool to track your company KPIs because you can all log in to the dashboard, no matter where you are. With tasks, projects, conversations and dashboards, Asana enables teams to move work from start to finish. Laid out as cards, you can create cards with a mission objective, a due date and add team members to it so you can track the progress of your work towards meeting your KPIs. You can turn conversations into actionable tasks and set your notifications to only alert you to the projects you’re working on.

They call their KPI measurement OKR, which stands for Objectives and Key Results. You can create a master project of OKRs, that will tell you what should be accomplished in the next period. Each OKR should be written as a task that can have deadlines, and can have a task leader. You can also use a dashboard for different tactical overviews of where your different projects are at.

We know that keeping your team onside and working as a unit is fundamental.
