What Should be in Your Firm’s App Stack?

Running your firm on desktop software is the equivalent of ignoring the existence of smartphones. Nowadays, smartphones are the norm, and they’re so much more useful than using a basic handset. While the Motorola Razr might look cool even now, it would be counterintuitive to buy one when you could get a top of the range smartphone and have all the apps you need in one place. So why, in 2017, are firms still working on historic tech?

Xero are industry leaders, and their ambition is to continue unlocking data and display it clearly. Their aim is to give their customers the tools to manage their data – which is where their new app Xero HQ comes into play. Saving precious time digging through historical data, this new platform allows you to do a whole lot, a whole lot faster. Xero listened to the following cries from our industry peers, and have made them a reality:

“What if you could plan your work without manually reviewing client needs? What if you knew which clients had GST or VAT due to file? What if you knew which clients had bank statement lines left unreconciled? What if you knew when you were assigned Workpapers, who has tax to pay, and who hasn’t paid their tax?”

We use Receipt Bank to easily track and repay staff expenses. Our in-house Management Accountants and Account Managers take trips across the UK to visit clients. A quick photo on their smartphones makes its way to the FUTRLI account and Co-Founders Hannah and Amy can quickly and accurately repay them.

Hubdoc

Stop chasing online bills and statements – that’s what the Hubdoc team implore you to do, and by signing up with these guys, they’ll automatically pull your bills and statements into one secure hub. This means you have one login to view and manage the documents from all of your accounts. You can sync your bills, receipts, invoices and more general data to your accounting software, which will save you a load of time and effort. Backup is automatic and collaboration is made easy.

BOMA

A customisable, fully integrated platform, you’re able to make use of their Corporate Messenger, which makes light of electronic signing, automatic debt reports, client reminders and easy payment solutions, completely customisable minutes and resolutions to ensure your companies never receive unnecessary late fees. They even have a ‘university’, where you can learn from highly experienced teachers to become industry accredited.

ApprovalMax

ApprovalMax allow you to approve purchase orders, bills, sales invoices and other accounting needs. It’s user-friendly, built to work via email, mobile or as a web app, so it’s the perfect fit for all – no matter now tech-savvy you are. Remote working means you need to keep track of where each of your team is and when they’re clocking in and out. T-Sheets makes this all possible – and simple. User-friendly, this app allows managers to track the footsteps and work of any member of staff. Using GPS technology, the app prevents confusion from different time zones, and will accurately track and sync offline as well as online.

Movemybooks

Integrations: Xero

Converting your accounts data is made easy with Movemybooks. You’ll have most of your data transferred from QuickBooks Desktop to Xero within a couple of hours (depending on the amount of data you’re transferring). If your data includes foreign currencies, that’s not a problem – though double checking your data is advised. This is one for those of you with clients working on desktop alone, and with the ability to sync historical data of over two years, is the best option for you. No more manual inputting, this is the best way to wave goodbye to desktop accounting.
